'Tis the season for festive unique light displays that will sparkle and twinkle all season long. From illuminated walking paths to mesmerizing rows and rows of trees, there are many lighting events happening throughout the Chicagoland area–including award-winning displays that are close to home. Get your twinkle on this holiday season and plan a night to take in the lights!

 

Naper Lights Downtown Naperville

Naperville, Illinois

Enjoy this free dazzling display of holiday lights and sound as you stroll down Water Street, Foyo Plaza, Jaycees Park and the Riverwalk in Downtown Naperville! Visit Naper Lights to get your 3D Viewing glasses! On select Fridays and Saturday evenings, you can also grab a holiday photo with Santa alongside the Great Tree; plus, enjoy music from Bach to Rock on the evenings of December 17th and 18th.



 

The Believe House

Naperville, Illinois

This beautiful display is a local favorite. This home's unique display is static, meaning you will not find many moving parts nor "dancing lights" to music. It is unique and beautiful and traditional....and that is why some many love it! When you visit, you will find a bit of magic, along with a twist of nostalgia for kids of all ages. While a static display is very traditional and reminiscent of Christmas past... this family mixes in many modern elements and bright LED lights! You'll find your favorite characters here from 1960-70's television holiday special programing classics alongside the world's biggest Elf on the Shelf. On display Thanksgiving thru New Year's Eve, Nightly, 4:30-10:30pm, Over-night on Christmas Eve, 630 Vicksburg Court, Naperville. Festival of Lights at Cosley Zoo

Wheaton, Illinois

November 25th through December 30th marks the time Cosley Zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland with thousands of twinkling lights, an amazing selection of Christmas trees, wreaths and greenery, hot chocolate, and a unique assortment of holiday gifts in the Wild Side Gift Shop. All proceeds from this event benefit Cosley Zoo.


 

Festival of Lights at Phillips Park Zoo

Aurora, Illinois

The Aurora's Festival of Lights is one of the largest free outdoor drive-through holiday light displays in Northern Illinois featuring thousands of twinkling lights, shimmering snowflakes high above the trees, a 20’ singing, dancing Christmas tree, and so much more. This is what the season is all about…making and sharing memories with all. The festival will be open from November 25th through December 26th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.


 

Illumination: Tree Lights at The Morton Arboretum

Lisle, Illinois

Explore 50 acres of the Arboretum’s majestic trees during this one-of-a-kind spectacle of color, light, and sound featuring six dazzling new displays as well as returning favorites. During Illumination, you’ll journey along a one-mile paved walking path amid festive music and lighting effects that highlight the beauty of trees in winter from November 19th through January 7, 2023. New this year is Electric Illumination, a late-night experience for adults 18 and older with a curated mix of trance and progressive house music, synchronized to the breathtaking light displays on December 16, 23, and 30th.


 

Lightscape at Chicago Botannical Garden

Glencoe, Illinois

This acclaimed holiday event returns, with a new path and new light-filled installations created just for the Chicago Botanic Garden. Explore the whimsy of nature in winter through music, light, fire, and color. Featured artistic works will include favorites such as the luminous Winter Cathedral and a reimagined fire garden. Celebrate outside with friends and family at Lightscape, the brightest spot for holiday cheer.


 

Amaze Light Festival

Tinley Park, Illinois

The excitement and wonderment of the holidays returns to Tinley Park. One of the country's largest lights show and immersive holiday experiences, Amaze Light Festival opens on November 18 and runs through January 8 from 4 to 10pm Wednesday to Sunday at Odyssey Fun World. Featuring light displays, massive holiday environments, food and beverage vendors, the Arctic Express train ride, live performances, a toy store and much more. The event will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.



 

Light Up the Lake

Chicago, Illinois

Back again in 2022! Enjoy new interactive experiences, ice skating, birch tree forest, Santa and more at Light Up the Lake– Chicago area’s largest indoor light and ice-skating experience that runs November 25 - January 7. Single tickets start at $15 for a child, $27 for an adult, depending on the day. Every ticket comes with a free ride on the Centennial Wheel, access to the Roseaux interactive art installation, stomp light activity, reflecting pond, birch tree forest, light sculptures, ice skating, skate rentals, and visits with Santa.



 

Lincoln Park Zoo Lights

Chicago, Illinois

Celebrate the holidays with ZooLights Presented by ComEd and Invesco QQQ. This festive, one-of-a-kind holiday experience offers a merry, family-oriented tradition in the heart of the city. Event runs from November 19th through January 1st. Admission is $5. Check calendar for Sensory-Friendly Nights.


 

Sparkle Light Festival at Impact Field

Rosemont, Illinois

The Sparkle Light Festival will be held November 18th through January 1st. Don’t miss this premier holiday light festival in Chicagoland and that will come alive with more magic than ever before. Impact Field in Rosemont will be transformed into five illuminated villages with millions of sparkling lights, custom 3D holiday features, ice tube slide, holiday train adventure, mouth-watering food and drink and much, much more.


 

Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo

Brookfield, Illinois

Now in their 41st year, Brookfield Zoo is Chicagoland’s longest-running lights festival featuring over two million twinkling LED lights throughout the Zoo. Bright lights, magical nights and holiday magic can be seen Friday through Sunday, November 25-27; Wednesday through Sunday, November 30, December 1-4, 7-11, 14-18; Monday through Saturday, December 26-31.



 

Winterlights in the Fabyan Japanese Garden

Batavia, Illinois

Step into an ethereal winter landscape with an evening light display at the Fabyan Japanese Garden this season. Located at Fabyan Japanese Garden 1925 S. Batavia Avenue in Geneva.
