VINTAGE SHOP HOP ENCOURAGES SHOPPING SMALL & SUPPORT LOCAL OCTOBER 4 & 5, 2024
ILLINOIS/WISCONSIN–The Vintage Shop Hop™ is set to attract thousands to northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin on October 4 & 5, 2024. This self-guided road trip offers vintage enthusiasts a chance to explore a diverse collection of locally owned shops, including antique malls, boutiques, and pop-up stores. Originating with 180 shops a decade ago, this event now features 350 to 400 unique shopping destinations.
Founder Ann Campos created the event to support small businesses, particularly during the challenging seasons for brick-and-mortar stores. Amidst the rise of online shopping, the Shop Hop encourages consumers to "shop small and shop local," boosting sales for participating venues. The event's growth has been fueled by social media, linking shop owners with cost-effective promotional opportunities and drawing eager shoppers.
Each participating shop hosts special in-store promotions, transforming the event into a festive experience. Visitors can enjoy activities like "pop a balloon" discounts, door prizes, live music, and food trucks, making each visit unique. These creatively curated experiences set small businesses apart from big box stores, offering personalized customer service and a memorable shopping environment.
The event spans a vast region from the Mississippi River to Lake Michigan, extending north to Wausau and Green Bay, and south to I-80 in Illinois. Shops are often located in historic buildings, such as barns and old schoolhouses, adding charm and character to the shopping adventure. Local area shops to west suburban Chicago include trend + relic in St. Charles and The Rustic Fox in North Aurora and Carol Stream, along with many more.
For easy planning, shoppers can utilize an interactive Google Map and a Master List of Shops, accessible via the event’s blog and Facebook page. This enables visitors to navigate the extensive network of shops effortlessly, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable vintage shopping experience.
