SCHOOL THREAT | NPD Investigation into Recent School Threat Results in Charges Against Two Teens

NAPERVILLE SCHOOL THREAT, TWO JUVENILES CHARGED

NAPERVILLE — A Naperville Police investigation into a threat made against Naperville Central High School on Oct. 19 has resulted in felony disorderly conduct charges against two juveniles.

The two juveniles, both male, are 15 and 16 years old. Both reside in Naperville. The DuPage County States Attorney’s Office charged each of the juveniles with Disorderly Conduct, a Class 4 Felony.

“As evidenced by this outcome, our department will fully investigate and pursue charges against anyone who makes a threat to the safety of our school communities,” said Chief Jason Arres. “Threats of school violence, whether written, spoken or posted on social media, are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Parents, please talk to your children about the seriousness and potential consequences of such statements because we will continue to take them seriously and take necessary action to ensure the safety of our schools.”

“Our Naperville 203 community remains grateful for the diligence of the Naperville Police Department,” said Naperville School District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges. “We are extremely appreciative of the department’s efforts, which ensure the safety of our students and staff members.”

The suspects are being processed through the juvenile court system. Therefore, no additional information about the subject or the case can be released by the Naperville Police Department. Similarly, no additional details will be provided pertaining to the threat made.

The Naperville Police Department encourages anyone with any information about any threat to an individual or school community to contact police immediately by dialing 9-1-1.

The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
