TRAGEDY STRIKES A YORKVILLE FAMILY, GOFUNDME PAGE SET UP TO HELP WITH FUNERAL EXPENSES
The Kendall County community is rallying together to support the family of Joey Burdiak, a 13-year-old passenger who was killed in a car accident on Monday, August 2, 2021 on IL Route 71 when a pick up truck crossed over the center lane and sideswiped the car he was driving in with his dad, spinning it out of control and causing it to hit the guardrail.
As reported by The Patch, Burdiak died at the scene from his injuries, while the 54-year-old SUV driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, officials said. The driver of the pickup was not injured, Illinois State Police confirmed. The road, between Route 126 and Reservation Road, was closed until 5:30 p.m. Monday while police, assisted by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office, investigated the scene.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Joey's family to help them with funeral expenses during this shocking and very tragic time. It reads:
"Anyone who knew Joey, knew he was kind, sweet, funny and had that silly grin. He was an avid Mine Craft player and was best friends, with his older sister, Kelcie. At this young age, we never anticipate having to plan a funeral for our young ones. Any funds raised, will go towards the funeral and burial. We appreciate greatly anything that you can donate small or large to hopefully get as close to this goal as possible to provide some comfort for the Burdiak family. Our family is in shock and cannot imagine a day without our, Joey or JoJo as his mom, Tammy called him. Please surround the family with love and comfort at this time, and be sure to give your kids a great big hug."
The page has been shared in local social media groups and has raised close to $10,000 as of early Tuesday evening.
