Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake
by Virile Recipes
Indulge in this dreamy Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake, perfect for any chocolate lover! Layers of rich chocolate flavors await you! Enjoy this slice of chocolate heaven
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120ml) boiling water
- 4 oz (115g) dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream, cold
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 oz (115g) milk chocolate, chopped
- 4 oz (115g) white chocolate, chopped
- Shaved chocolate or cocoa powder for garnish
- Fresh berries (optional)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper so it’s ready for action!
2. In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. This will give your cake a lovely texture!
3. In a separate bowl, whisk those eggs and granulated sugar until they’re light and fluffy. Then, mix in the buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until everything is beautifully combined.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth and oh-so-silky. And here’s the trick: stir in the boiling water! Your batter will be thin, but that’s exactly what we want.
5. Pour that luscious batter into your prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Keep an eye on it; you’ll know it’s done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Patience is a virtue, especially with cake!
7. For the dark chocolate mousse, melt the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a double boiler or in the microwave. Let it cool slightly while you whip up some cream.
8. In a mixing bowl, whip the cold heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Then, gently fold in that luscious melted dark chocolate until it’s smooth and heavenly. Set aside.
9. Repeat the melting and folding process for the milk chocolate and then the white chocolate, creating a trio of delightful mousses.
10. Once your cake is completely cool, carefully slice it into two layers horizontally, just like cutting a fluffy cloud!
11. Place the bottom layer on a serving plate or springform pan. Spread the dark chocolate mousse over it evenly, smoothing it out like a pro.
12. Next, add the milk chocolate mousse layer followed by the white chocolate mousse layer—just keep stacking till it’s all mousse!
13. Place the remaining cake layer on top of the mousse and gently press down to compact those heavenly layers together.
14. Now, it’s chill time! Refrigerate the cake for at least 4-6 hours, or better yet, overnight. This allows those mousses to set and marry each flavor.
15. Before serving, give your stunning cake a sprinkle of shaved chocolate or cocoa powder, along with fresh berries if you’re feeling fancy.
16. Slice it up, serve chilled, and watch everyone’s faces light up with joy!
