REAL ESTATE STORIES | St. Charles Family Gets $40,000 Over Ask Price with Trendy Home Updates

MEET DAVID & ALENA EDWARDS OF ST. CHARLES

ST. CHARLES–Alena and Dave have a knack for trendy real estate updates such as walls of Agreeable Gray, chop block style kitchen countertops, built in Bluetooth stereo speakers, white shaker cabinetry, sliding barn doors as closet doors, shiplap focal wall details, and professional staging. This led to over 60 showings and 22 offers resulting in securing an offer $40,000 over ask once listing their Aurora home with Susan Colella, CLHMS, CRS, CSC, BPOR of Baird and Warner in Naperville.

“We received the highest sale price in their neighborhood at that time. In this seller's market my motto is I don't wait for things to happen; I make things happen,” Susan says. “As a full-time agent and dedicated Realtor for 10 years, helping local sellers and buyers doesn't feel like work which makes it easy to be dedicated 24/7 to my clients.”

Susan diligently performed to procure the sale of the Aurora home with the purchase of the couple’s dream home in St. Charles which is not an easy undertaking in a hot market given the limited inventory along with a wish list that included a specific subdivision to be close to friends, great schools, a preferred cul-de-sac location, a quaint front porch, increased square footage needs, a traditional style home with a huge backyard to accommodate an ice-skating rink, swing, and trampoline for their kids Mason (7) and Corinne (4).

Susan, David, and Alena became fast friends and worked as a team to take advantage of each of their talents to produce the quickest and highest sale price. Alena was in charge of decorating, wine, and sushi; David applied his fierce professional negotiation skills; and Susan combined their high energy, sense of humor, years of networking and real estate know-how to seamlessly pull it all together.

The efficient teamwork filled with laughter and trust led to a dream home for the family to be in close proximity for shuttling the kids around to hockey and horse riding, close to family and friends, and take advantage of the downtown life in St. Charles to frequent their favorites The Meltdown, Village Tavern, and the Village Squire. -Kristen Kucharski, Photos by Mike Catuara
