Cherished Friend and Athlete is Being Remembered

OSWEGO–The Oswego community is mourning the tragic loss of Sean Fader, a beloved senior at Oswego High School, who passed away in a car accident on Friday, September 13, 2024. A promising young life was cut short when Sean's vehicle veered off Minkler Road in unincorporated Oswego Township, struck a tree, and caught fire. The devastating accident claimed the life of the 17-year-old who was known for his remarkable spirit and vibrant presence among his peers and family.


Sean Fader was more than just a student at Oswego High School; he was a cherished friend and athlete known for his infectious smile and boundless energy. As a member of the school's boys' volleyball team, Sean was admired for his dedication both on and off the court. Friends and teammates recall his enthusiasm and the full-hearted effort he put into every game and practice. His presence was a constant reminder of positivity, and he was known for bringing people together with his humor and warmth.


The impact of Sean's passing has been felt throughout the entire Oswego community. During the Oswego High School homecoming parade, heartfelt tributes such as "You will be missed Sean" and "Forever in our Hearts" adorned floats, a poignant reminder of the deep void his passing has left. Classmates shared memories of Sean's humor and zest for life, emphasizing how deeply he touched the lives of those around him.

In the wake of this tragedy, the Fader family has created the Sean Fader Memorial Scholarship to honor his memory and ensure his legacy continues to inspire future generations. The scholarship fund aims to support students at Oswego High School who embody Sean's spirit of enthusiasm and community involvement. The initiative has been met with overwhelming support from the community, with contributions pouring in through a GoFundMe page dedicated to raising funds for this noble cause.


The GoFundMe campaign not only highlights the community's desire to remember Sean but also their commitment to turning tragedy into a source of hope and opportunity for others. Through this scholarship, Sean's name will continue to be associated with the positive influence he had during his life, encouraging others to live with the same passion and spirit that he did. "Dear Friends and Family of the Faders and the entire Oswego Community, Bill, Nikki, and Paige are so grateful for your outpouring of love and support. The family has decided that they would like all donations to go towards a scholarship in Sean's memory. The fund will be called The Sean Fader Memorial Scholarship. Thank you for all the love and support you have shown towards this incredible family during their immense pain and grief."


Though the loss of Sean Fader is a profound one, the Oswego community is coming together, providing comfort to one another, and ensuring that his memory will live on.
