Body Found in Oswego: Investigation Underway in Fox River Discovery

OSWEGO–A death investigation is ongoing after a body was found in Oswego on Monday, April 21, 2025. According to police reports, the body was located in the Fox River near the 100 block of West Washington Street, just southwest of the Washington Street Bridge.


Oswego Police were alerted at approximately 5:24 p.m. after a caller reported noticing something unusual in the water. Upon arrival, officers utilized a drone to survey the area. The technology revealed what appeared to be a body in shallow water near an island in the center of the river. The Oswego Fire Protection District was called in to recover the deceased, confirming the individual was no longer alive.


The recovered body has been transported to the Kendall County Coroner's Office, where an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Authorities have yet to release the identity, age, or gender of the deceased, and no details have been shared regarding how long the body may have been in the water. Additionally, it remains unclear if foul play is suspected in the case.
