It was Learned that the Offender Fled the Scene in a Vehicle
NAPERVILLE— As police continue to investigate a shooting in Naperville this past weekend, they are asking for residents who may have any information about the incident to please contact them.
The release shared that on Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2024, Naperville Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Iroquois Avenue and Kennebec Lane for a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers arrived on scene and located a gunshot victim outside of a home on the 1000 block of Iroquois Avenue. The Naperville Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
The initial investigation suggested that the offender fled the scene on foot. Officers established a perimeter and deployed a K9 unit along with a drone in an attempt to locate the offender. A Naper Notify Alert was sent to surrounding residents asking them to shelter in place. As more information became available it was learned that the offender had fled the scene in a vehicle.
The release indicated that based on the preliminary investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
