Summer Kicks Off with Unique, Fun & Exciting Events at Naper Settlement

NAPERVILLE— Naper Settlement is pleased to present the following events and programs during June 2024. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 AM-4 PM and Sunday from 1-4 PM with general museum admission $12 for adults (13+), $10 for seniors (62+), and $8 for youth (4-12). Naperville residents with proof of residency, children under 4, and members receive complimentary admission. Town and Gown Walking Tour

Thursday, June 6 • 5:30-6:30 PM

$15/person, free for children under 4 | Register

Explore the east side of downtown Naperville and learn about the ways the community developed along with North Central College. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

 

Blacksmithing 101

Saturday, June 8 & 15 • 8-11 AM

$150/adult (18+) | Register

Learn the art of blacksmithing with an introduction to safety, tools, and the forge in this two-session class. Participants will learn hammer techniques while making an item to take home. Must be at least 18 years of age to participate. Registration is required.

Downtown Naperville Architecture Walking Tour

Thursday, June 13 • 5:30-6:30 PM

$15/person, free for children under 4 | Register

Learn about the important and interesting architecture from the 1800s to today that makes downtown Naperville a beautiful place to live, work, and play. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required. 

 

Your Friendly Neighborhood Historian: Humans in Nature

Thursday, June 13 • 7-8 PM

$10/person | Register

Why do humans conserve nature? And what is this “nature” they are hoping to save? Learn about the history of the modern conservation movement with a focus on the thoughts of John Muir and Gifford Pinchot.

 

Naper Nights Community Concert Series

Friday, June 14 & Saturday, June 15 • 5-10 PM

$20/adult (13+), $15 youth (4-12) | Tickets

Get ready for a summertime tradition that features cold drinks, great food, and fabulous music! Naper Nights celebrates historic musical milestones with themed tribute concerts throughout the summer. On June 14, get groovy while listening and dancing along to a variety of disco hits by Boogie Wonder Band (8-10 PM) and a Tina Turner tribute by Simply the Best (6-7:30 PM). June 15 will include a tribute to Coldplay by Fix You (8-10 PM) and a tribute to The Flaming Lips by Sun Stereo (6-7:30 PM). For more information and tickets, visit NaperNights.org.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Book Club: Onward to Chicago: Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad in Northeastern Illinois

Wednesday, June 19 • 2-3:30 PM

Free for Naperville residents and Naper Settlement members; $10/person if not a member or resident | Register

Celebrate Juneteenth with Your Friendly Neighborhood Book Club. Participants will read and discuss Larry A. McClellan's “Onward to Chicago: Freedom Seekers and the Underground Railroad in Northeastern Illinois.” It is recommended that participants read the book before the meeting, but it is not required.

 

Naperville Cemetery Walking Tour

Thursday, June 20 • 5:30-6:30 PM

$15/person, free for children under 4 | Register

As you stroll through the serenity of this final resting place, you will step back into the past to learn the stories of pioneers, trailblazers, and everyday heroes who once breathed life into the very streets you walk today. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

 

Naper Settlement Farmers Market

Tuesday, June 25 • 3-7 PM

Free to attend | Learn More

The Naper Settlement Farmers Market will feature live music, educational programming, and a variety of local vendors. An assortment of goods will be for sale, including coffee, sweets, spices, and more. There will also be an agriculture-based educational class presented by a guest speaker, as well as live acoustic music. The Naper Settlement Farmers Market takes place every Tuesday from June 25 to September 17.

Teacher Tuesdays: Humans in Nature (Virtual)

$10/teacher | Register

Transform your Tuesdays into an engaging historical discussion and leave with 1.0 CPDU credit. Why do humans conserve nature? And what is this “nature” they are hoping to save? Origins of Naperville Walking Tour

$15/person, free for children under 4 | Register

Listen to stories from Naperville’s founding to the generosity of Caroline Martin Mitchell on a walking tour of the west side of downtown Naperville. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and covers about two miles. Open to all ages. Pre-registration is required.

 

Adult Field Trip: Patriotic Planter (Craft by Beer Series)

Thursday, June 27 • 7-9 PM

$20/adult (21+) | Register

Test your civic knowledge with fun trivia questions about the United States while creating your own patriotic planter to take home. Celebrate Independence Day style all while sipping on your favorite adult beverage! You must be at least 21 years of age to participate. A valid ID is required at event entry. Pre-registration is required.
