Naperville Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash
NAPERVILLE — The Naperville Police Department released information on yesterday’s fatal traffic crash and is asking anyone with information to please contact them.
On September 21, 2024, at 10:21 a.m., Naperville Police Department and Naperville Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the intersection of W. Ogden Avenue and Royal Saint George Drive for a traffic crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. Officers arrived on scene and observed an unconscious female who appeared to have suffered a serious head injury after being struck by a Jeep Wrangler. The injured female was identified as Isabel Dimas-Jimenez, a 54-year-old resident of Naperville. Dimas-Jimenez was transported to a local hospital where she later passed away from her injuries.
The involved vehicle, a light green 2024 Jeep Wrangler, was being driven by a 44-year-old female out of Wheaton.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the Jeep was traveling westbound on Ogden Avenue when she proceeded to make a left turn onto southbound Royal Saint George Drive on a solid green light. The Jeep collided with the bicyclist who was traveling eastbound in the crosswalk on the south side of Ogden Avenue.
Due to the nature of the crash, traffic crash investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene. The roadway remained closed until approximately 2:00 p.m.
