Cake Connoisseur with Wilton Sweet Studio in Naperville
NAPERVILLE–A cake connoisseur I am; however, a cake decorator, I am not. I could still not pass up the opportunity to participate in a cake decorating class at the new Wilton Sweet Studio in Naperville. I thought, regardless of how it looks, I still get to eat cake!
It was hard selecting which class to try, and I was immediately drawn to the Ciao Dolci! Cannoli class to feed my addiction to the filling; but, in the end, I really wanted to try my hand at piping skills.
Indulging in nostalgia with the Vintage Cake Class, we learned the basics of piping, stacking, and coloring to craft our own timeless masterpiece. The step by step instructions were easy enough to understand, and the hands-on practice was the perfect amount of time to prepare us for creating our own work of art.
We loved selecting our own colors and styles. We chose ribbons, waves, dots, stars, flowers, and anything pleasing, to make them as elaborate or simple as we wanted. I was so incredibly proud of the outcome! I put a feather in my cap as I displayed my finished showpiece that even looked too good to eat! I couldn’t believe I did it! I was expecting a great Pinterest Fail Photo to entertain the readers!

The classes are designed to cater to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced bakers; as well as a wide range of ages from kids to adults. They cover a wide range of techniques and styles in cake and cookie decorating, including multi-day Summer Camps for kids.
I left the class feeling inspired and empowered to continue honing my skills. It was a truly enriching experience that not only expanded my knowledge and skills in the culinary arts, but also fostered a sense of creativity and self-expression. The instructors are passionate about their craft and dedicated to helping students unleash their creativity and achieve beautiful and delicious results.
