MOM'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK | Chicago Bicycle Spin Art

ACTIVE ART FOR ALL AGES

This month’s issue is all about being balanced for the New Year. It offers many ideas to find peace, harmony, and joy. The new year is always a great opportunity to create resolutions setting the stage for a prosperous and fulfilling year.

For many that know me, I find solace in active adventures. I’m a big believer in recreational therapy to calm my mind, move my body, and refresh my soul. All of Mom’s Little Black Book adventures have led to smiles, laughter, and an abundance of fond memories. This month is no different.

When most are thinking of losing weight, exercise, and healing the soul, discovering Chicago Bicycle Spin Art is the perfect match. Here I was able to release my inner creativity through a makeshift art therapy session, while also releasing endorphins via the physical movement of pedaling a stationary bike.

It was fun selecting my artist name by choosing the last name of a famed artisan, my favorite bike brand, and a cute nickname. As Goya Kona Bava, I chose a large canvas to begin my journey, then very thoughtfully executed the masterpiece with my 2023 goals in mind. I methodically selected stickers, paints, styles, methods, and speed as I mounted the stationary bike and headed down the road of creation.

The giggles immersed immediately as I started to pedal and watch the paint spin and fly. It was both mesmerizing and entertaining. I enjoyed the music in the background, as well as the enthusiasm and cheers of the innocent bystanders, as my blank slate transformed into a treasure that highlighted my glittering dreams of the year to come.

Pedaling a one-of-a-kind collectors item is a great activity for anyone of any age! Bringing your own drinks and snacks is an added bonus of this a super fun, interactive adventure for all.

Located inside the Century Shopping Centre, in the heart of the Lakeview East neighborhood of Chicago, parking is easy in the covered parking garage next door, or via paid streetside parking.
