Glen Ellyn Park District’s Kids on the Course
Date: Friday, September 20
Time: 6-7:30 pm
Location: Holes & Knolls, 845 Pershing Avenue
Kids can swing over to Holes & Knolls for a night out with their friends. They’ll participate in challenges, compete to win prizes, and then have pizza and a soft drink of their choice. Location: Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, 800 St. Charles Road
Tweens take over the gym and turf at Ackerman SFC for a night of fun with pizza, sports, games, and other activities! Adults must accompany children for check-in and check-out. Glen Ellyn Park District’s Autumn Gone Fishin’ Derby
Date: Saturday, September 21
Time: 9-10:30 am
Location: Lake Ellyn Park, 645 Lenox Road
Cast your lines this autumn at our annual catch-and-release fishing derby! You’ll have an hour to catch as many fish as you can. Prizes will be awarded for the largest, smallest, and most fish caught in three age groups: 3-5 years, 6-8 years, and 9-12 years, as well as for the overall 'Best Dressed Angler.' The registration fee includes bait, snacks, and activities (note: participants must bring their own fishing poles). This event is for children ages 3-12, accompanied by an adult. Location: Maryknoll Park, 845 Pershing Road
Celebrate Illinois oaks! Learn about these stately trees while enjoying family-friendly activities such as taking a guided nature walk, attempting an acorn toss, and working on a tree art project. Two Hound Red will have an 'Oaktoberfest' beer available for purchase. Attendees will also have the opportunity to try out platform tennis (first come, first serve; equipment and brief instruction included). Grandparents and their grandchildren are invited to create lasting memories at Lake Ellyn Park in this intergenerational outdoor experience. Enjoy art and craft activities at the Boathouse or explore nature with a hike or scavenger hunt. Join the Glen Ellyn Parks Foundation for a spooky night of bites, delights, and frightful fun at the Halloween Hangout! Enjoy delicious food, drinks, and desserts alongside music, raffles, and auctions with net proceeds benefiting the Foundation's mission. Dress to impress (or scare!) in your most bewitching attire. Prizes will be awarded for scariest, funniest, cutest, most creative, and best couple/group costume. (Costumes are encouraged but not required.) Date: Wednesday, October 23

Unleash your creativity at the Pumpkin King Carving Court! Pumpkins and tools are provided, just bring your imagination. Snacks, refreshments, and treats will be available for participants. Your carved masterpieces will be showcased in the Pumpkins on Main display from October 24 to 31, adding to the spooky spirit of Main Street Recreation Center. Prizes will be awarded to carving court participants. Stick around after the event for a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Open to all ages, but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The fee is $15 for residents and $20 for nonresidents per pumpkin. All ages and skill levels are invited to submit a jack-o'-lantern for a spooky community display this Halloween! Not only will your pumpkin be showcased, but you could also win exciting prizes. Simply carve a pumpkin at home and bring it to the Main Street Recreation Center on Wednesday, October 23 between 12 pm and 8 pm. Glen Ellyn Park District’s Ackerman Haunted Trail
Date: Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25
Time: 4-9 pm
Location: Ackerman Park, 800 St. Charles Road
Take a walk along a haunted trail filled with creepy creatures, scary sounds, and bone-chilling scenes. You can come anytime between 4 pm and 9 pm; the walk will take about 10 minutes. The trail will be less scary from 4 pm to 6 pm and geared toward older children from 6 pm to 9 pm. Before or after your adventure, enjoy refreshments for purchase from local vendors.
