Nestled among mature trees, rolling hills and ridges, is Getaway's newest outpost in Ottawa, IL- just 1.5 hours from Chicago.
These tiny cabins give guests the opportunity to be at one with nature with a scenic pond onsite and picturesque views from the majestic Illinois River just a short walk away.
These tiny cabins have everything you need and nothing you don't. Each cabin includes a queen bed, a hot shower and a two-burner stove, plus other necessities. Adding to the experience, guests can purchase S'mores,
Coffee + Tea, Firewood + Firestarte. There's even amenities for your pets.
Outposts are designed to be more than a destination, but a way to create distance from the relentless demands of work, schedules, and technology. Getaway wants their guests to experience unscheduled, unstructured, and uninterrupted free time — not just for rest and rejuvenation, but to foster inspiration, creativity, and connection.
Getaway’s founder, Jon Staff, grew up in rural Minnesota with most of his childhood spent outdoors. On the heels of a demanding startup job, Jon found himself burned out and longing for the role nature played in his youth. He quit and left the city behind in a 26’ Airstream trailer to take time to reflect.
While traveling, Jon discovered that being in nature was critical to his well-being, productivity, and happiness. So much so that in the summer of 2015, Jon and his college buddy Pete Davis launched Getaway.
With 15 Outposts and counting, Getaway offers simple escapes to nature within two hours of major cities across the country — inviting guests to savor their free time, find balance through disconnection, and enjoy the company of those who matter most.
