ENTERTAINMENT LINE-UP ANNOUNCED FOR SWEDISH DAYS FESTIVAL JUNE 21-25 SUPPORTED BY NORTHWESTERN MEDICINE
GENEVA–Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s 73rd Annual Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine runs from June 21-25 in downtown Geneva and has an array of talent that offers something for every type of music fan at three different venues.
“Bringing a mix of genres and styles to the festivals is always top of mind. Having entertainment begin on Wednesday with Geneva Park District performances and Geneva’s Got Talent semi-finals allowed the Geneva Chamber to bring new “hot” bands each evening to Central Stage, Thursday through Saturday. We hope the audience enjoys returning favorites and new additions,” noted Laura Rush, Communications Director of Geneva Chamber of Commerce.
Wednesday evening’s Central Stage entertainment will begin at 4:30 p.m. as we welcome you with a Swedish Midsummer Procession with audience participation and performance by Swedish American Children's Choir. At 5:30 p.m. enjoy live performances by the Geneva Park District’s Angels Cheer & Poms Team, the Geneva Gymnastics Academy, Playhouse 38 youth performers, and the Geneva Park District’s Sunset Dance Academy. Immediately following will be the semifinalists from “Geneva’s Got Talent” performances.
Thursday don’t miss “Geneva’s Got Talent” finalists, starting at 5:00 p.m. The Thursday evening entertainment continues at 7:00 pm with Sushi Roll. Formed in early 2012, Sushi Roll quickly perfected their own unique blend of high-energy dance music and rock n roll swagger and then topped it off with memorable stage costumes, inspired by cosplay, anime, and superheroes.
Begin Friday at 3:00 pm with The MacCartyns.Performing harmony rock from the late ‘60s, this local band always brings a crowd. Friday night at 5:00 No Turn On Red, a versatile, horn-driven, funk band that is paired with amazing female vocals and a full thick rhythm section takes the stage. With an injection of New Orleans brass band flare, No Turn On Red’s mission is to produce high-energy shows that entice the ears of all ages. Buckle up because at 7:00 those wacky (but soulful) Blooze Brothers are on the loose again! Hotly pursued by their lovely parole officers, the boys sense that a trap is being laid. This high-powered choreographed 12-piece show band covers Motown, R&B, soul, current favorites and of course the music and crazy antics of the famous original Blues Brothers.
Chicago's HOTTEST and most entertaining cover band is ripped right out of your high school yearbook pages at 5:00 pm when Student Body debuts on Central Stage. Closing out Swedish Days at 7:00 is Generation bringing a “Rock show” of iconic, popular hits not defined by decades…but some of the best groundbreaking music of our time! Beatles to Stones…Bowie to Led Zeppelin…Aretha to Sly Stone. Songs are always sure to bring smiling faces in the crowd!
If you have some time around lunch, stop by the Craft Beer tent. Performing are Gregory Hyde, Cole Brandt, Matt Keen and Danny & Katie O’Brien.
All evening concerts will be held at the Central Stage and in the Craft Beer Tent on James Street during the day.
