DeKalb County Epicenter for Early Morning Earthquake
Nothern Illinois residents were startled in the early morning hours of July 15 when they felt an earthquake. It's been reported that a 3.4 earthquake struck part of DeKalb County Monday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The earthquake struck at about 2:53 a.m. and was centered two kilometers northwest of Somonauk, the USGS said. The epicenter is being reported near Somonauk, Illinois. The earthquake had a depth of 9.8 kilometers, the USGS said.
