CELEBRATNG CHANGE THROUGH A LOVE FOR EXERCISE AND DEDICATION TO HER NEW PILATES STUDIO
OSWEGO–With initiative and drive, Melissa joined the Oswego Chamber of Commerce after opening Prairie View Pilates. She loves seeing her students truly understand and connect with their bodies while feeling the empowerment of her own mantra.
“I love the quote by Joseph Pilates, Change happens through movement and movement heals, because it's not just about physical healing, but understanding that moving our bodies can help with depression and anxiety.
Prior to owning a pilates studio, Melissa attended culinary school in 2003-2004 and traveled to restaurants of every kind. She learned techniques such as using sous vide to add flavor to food without adding a lot of fat; as well as drinking a cup of bone broth to help provide a soothing sensation in the evening.
Melissa has a passion for food, but has learned the art of balance, and wholly believes exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you ate.
She is honest, kind, and driven and always tries to focus on her energy level and how she is feeling IN her body, versus living by a number on the scale. With an ongoing desire to learn, Melissa is committed to carving out time for her own Pilates practice and connecting with her mentors via Zoom a few times a week.
