THIS TALENTED ARTIST HAS MADE HER LOVE OF ART HER HOBBY & HER CAREER
While studying to be an environmental engineer, Wheaton sculptor Jodi Younglove took her first pottery class her freshman year as an elective just for fun. Making finely crafted ceramics of lasting value sparked such a passion in her she changed schools, changed majors and started on a journey that led her to an MFA in ceramics at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. “It was the clay media that got me hooked,” says Jodi. “The idea of making something that I could share with others and that would last generations really appealed to me.”
Along with working on her own art, Jodi is the Program Director at Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles where she manages the faculty and organizes their programming for the year. She is also on the pottery faculty at the center where she teaches two advanced ceramic classes a week. As an avid gardener, she enjoys creating botanical shapes and themes throughout a lot of her sculptures and loves to create functional pottery to sell at local markets and on her Etsy site, www.etsy.com/shop/featsofclay/ .
