WITH IMAGES THROUGHOUT GLEN ELLYN, THIS LOCAL ARTIST IS LOVED BY MANY
Long time Glen Ellyn resident Erik Peterson (and who just recently moved to Wheaton) was fascinated with photography as far back as high school. He attended the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago to study Industrial Design, which helped hone his eye for composition and detail.
It wasn’t until his wife, Peg, encouraged him to exhibit his photography at the Glen Ellyn’s Festival of the Arts in 2009 that his opportunity to share his work took off. At that festival, Village President Mark Pfefferman stopped by Erik’s booth and loved many of the Glen Ellyn images. He inquired about purchasing several large-scale pieces for a permanent collection to be displayed in the Village of Glen Ellyn’s Galligan Boardroom.
From that point on, many individuals and businesses have acquired pieces for collections in their residences, corporate offices, and restaurants. Barone’s of Glen Ellyn restaurant acquired a dozen pieces when they renovated their dining room. The Downtown Glen Ellyn Alliance used several images for its seasonal downtown banner program. “One of my first popular images was a panoramic image of the Glen Ellyn Holiday Walk,” says Erik. “It was an image that captured the moment in time so well.”
