INDEPENDENT GROCER TO GET NEW OWNERSHIP, SAME COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENT SERVICE, PRODUCT AND COMMUNITY
Casey’s Foods is pleased to announce that effective June 1st, 2019 it will be under the new ownership of longtime employee and Naperville resident, Kris Visher. Kris assumes ownership from Dan Casey, who will stay on as Executive Officer, with responsibilities to ensure the high quality of customer service and products Casey’s Foods will continue to offer.
What was started in 1969 by two Irish immigrants — Mike Casey and Mike Kelly as Mike’s Meats evolved into the independent grocery store in Naperville, run by second-generation Dan Casey. Since starting behind the meat counter in 1975, Dan has carried out his family’s vision of providing excellent products with exceptional service to the local community.
“At Casey’s Foods, we have an unwavering commitment to our customers and our community,” said Dan Casey. “It was important that we find the right ownership to take Casey’s into the future, and there is no one better than Kris to do it.”
Since opening at its current location in 1991, Casey’s Foods has been a cornerstone of the Naperville community, supporting countless organizations and serving customers it’s signature high-quality meats, produce, bakery, and grocery items.
Kris Visher joined Casey’s Foods in 2005 as Business Manager, Human Resources Manager, and Accountant. Prior to that, her career was in working for companies in need of financial department restructuring and development of financial support systems. Kris and her family moved to Naperville in 1985 where she quickly became involved in the community, including Grace United Methodist Church, the Magical Starlight Theatre, the Naperville Park District, and more.
“It’s my goal to maintain and expand Casey’s Foods presence in the community with a continued commitment to excellence in service and product, while supporting our community,” said Kris. “I have deep respect for the history of Casey’s Foods, and the values that have long been a priority. I look forward to maintaining and honoring that, while expanding our responsiveness to the changing tastes and lifestyles through innovation of ideas in products, and delivery of services.”
According to Dan Casey, selling to a new owner wasn’t a decision that came lightly—"this isn’t just a career, it’s where I grew up. It’s my father’s and my family’s legacy,” said Dan. “I’m excited for what’s to come and to continue supporting the Casey’s team. Just as my father did in his retirement, I’ll look forward to returning often, especially around lunchtime.”
