TESS KOSSOW
I’m Very Ferris
GENEVA–Like many, Geneva resident Tess Kossow struggled with infertility and turned to IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) to help get pregnant and have her little boy, Ferris. After going through the process, she wanted to find something that Ferris could relate to and understand how he came to be. After searching the markets and finding nothing, Tess decided to write her own book, I’m Very Ferris, not only for Ferris but for all babies and families of IVF. “Infertility affects 1 in 8 couples,” says Tess. “In vitro fertilization needs to be celebrated with children in a way they can understand.”
I’m Very Ferris is Ferris’s real-life story about his entrance into the world told from a child’s point of view in a beautifully illustrated rhyming book. Tess based the story on hers and her husband’s experiences as well as other couple’s personal infertility stories. This book is the start of a series that allows children to follow along with baby Ferris on everyday adventures while still giving respect and attention to the topic of IVF. The next book in process is called, I’m Very Ferris Takes a Bubble Bath.
