LOCAL FAMILY GRIEVING AFTER HIT AND RUN KILLS 8 YEAR OLD IN AURORA
Donations are being accepted to help an Aurora family with funeral expenses. As WGN reported on Tuesday, the Aurora family is mourning the loss of an 8-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run Monday night while he was walking home from the park with his sister and grandfather.
The boy was identified as Izaiah Lopez. His family said he loved baseball and the Chicago Bulls. His father, Angelo Lopez, said that even at a young age, Izaiah understood the value of kindness.
"Last night my family experienced the the most horrendous and heartbreaking loss. My 8 year old nephew was killed by a hit and run driver," the boy's aunt posted on the Go Fund Me page early Tuesday morning.
"My dad, nephew and niece were crossing the street at Lake St. to come home after an evening at the park and dinner at Wendy's. It was always their little outing with Grandpa and it was the first one of the year. What a beautiful day that ended with such tragedy. "
