VANILLE PATISSERIE SUPPORTING SPECIAL OLYMPICS CHICAGO ON NATIONAL MACARON DAY
Donating 10 percent of all sales on March 20 to Special Olympics Chicago
CHICAGO – Vanille Patisserie invites everyone to celebrate National Macaron Day on Wednesday, March 20 with proceeds supporting Special Olympics Chicago. The day simultaneously honors the nonprofit organization and the first day of spring. French macarons are a colorful sandwich-shaped dessert boasting a crunchy meringue shell encapsulating an intense burst of flavor at its creamy core. On National Macaron Day, Vanille will donate 10 percent of all in-store and online sales of any product to Special Olympics Chicago, a nonprofit organization offering athletic training and competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
“We are thrilled to partner with Special Olympics Chicago and help raise funds for their valuable programming,” said Sophie Evanoff, Vanille Patisserie president. “Last year we had several athletes help us prepare the macarons and fill orders on Macaron Day which inspired us to hire athletes as seasonal employees in our stores and at the Hyde Park Farmer’s Market. We look forward to welcoming the athletes back to celebrate this National Macaron Day.”
New this year, Vanille has created the “Champion Box” of macarons designed to highlight the strengths of special athletes. Each 12-count box will include a gold macaron representing the medals the special athletes strive to earn along with a variety of other macarons embossed with the Special Olympics Chicago logo as well as inspirational words of the special athletes. The limited edition box will be available in all locations on National Macaron Day and for shipping nationwide. Pre-orders for national shipping begin March 1 for delivery the week of March 20.
All Vanille products purchased in-store or online on March 20 will count towards the donation percentage to Special Olympics Chicago. Patrons who mention #BreakingDownBarriers at any Vanille location on National Macaron Day will also receive a free French macaron.
Special Olympics Chicago is one of the largest programs in the country offering training and competition for more than 7,500 athletes in 22 sports throughout the year. The organization provides opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Special Olympic programming is available in more than 122 Chicago Public Schools throughout the city and in 23 Chicago Park District locations.
All four Vanille Patisserie locations will participate in the National Macaron Day celebration: Lincoln Park (2108 N. Clark St.) Lakeview East (3243 N. Broadway) Chicago French Market inside Ogilvie Metra Station (131 N. Clinton Ave.) and Hyde Park (5229 S. Harper Court).
