QUIGLEY’S IRISH PUB IS A FAMILY AFFAIR FILLED WITH CRAIC AND SO MUCH MORE NORTH NAPERVILLE
There’s always a place to entertain the grandkids and host big family gatherings, when you own Quigley’s Irish Pub in downtown Naperville. In fact, all of Nancy’s children have worked at Quigley’s at one time or another, and her boys even assisted with the construction pre-opening back in 1998.
“Craic is a Gaelic term that describes the feeling you should get in an Irish Pub – fun, good conversation, good music and food, and great people,” Nancy says. “To insure that Quigley’s Irish Pub would have great craic, we had the pub designed, built, and shipped over from Ireland.”
With years of hands-on learning, her kids all learned entrepreneurship skills and her daughter, Michele now runs Quigley's and her son Barry runs his own restaurant in Plainfield, called Crafted. Danielle and Sean are both self-employed running businesses in Michigan and Florida.
She credit’s Michele as the brains of Quigley’s which has personally allowed Nancy to serve as President of the Rotary Club of Naperville/Downtown and chair Naperville Crimestoppers over the years. With Michele fully concentrating on running the pub, Nancy has immersed herself in serving the Naperville community as a tour guide at the Naperville Police Department, bringing her therapy dogs to brighten people’s day at Edward Hospital, and participating as Grand Marshall in the St. Patrick’s Parade.
“I love the people, community spirit and of course, the Riverwalk,” Nancy says. “I have lived here for 41 years!”
Living directly on the river, Nancy loves her personal oasis in the heart of the downtown area; and although hard work and perseverance are staples for the Quigley family, they are always sure to take time and enjoy the outdoors and hike with their dogs in the local Forest Preserves. –Kristen Kucharski
