KELLY EDWARDS The Design Cookbook: Recipes for a Stylish Home Romeoville native, Kelly Edwards is best known for hosting the successful HGTV series Design on a Dime, as well as STYLE Network’s Tacky House and AWE’s Find Me A Luxury Home. She has inspired thousands to “do-it-themselves” and has a knack for re-purposing everyday items into extraordinary collectibles and creating accessible design while working on a budget.
One evening over dinner, Kelly’s father suggested she write a design book that looks like a cookbook. She loved the format idea. Rooms in her book come with “recipes” - a list of ingredients and steps to complete each room. “Even if people can’t cook, they’ll pick up a cookbook and try it,” says Kelly. “I wanted to use that same approach in design. I wanted my readers to flip to a page and say, I can do this!”
Kelly spent several months consulting designers all over the world and asked them how their rooms came together. If it was too complicated or too aggressive financially, she passed on it. She explains, “everything is broken down in bite-size pieces, so even if you aren’t a skilled interior designer, the process doesn’t seem so daunting.”
The Design Cookbook is available through Barnes and Noble, as well as Amazon.
