PORTILLO’S BRINGS BACK HEART-SHAPED CAKES FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

The restaurant’s Famous Chocolate Cake dons its “lovely” shape for Portillo’s For Good’s charity partnership with the American Red Cross

Portillo’s, the fast-casual restaurant brand known for its menu of Chicago-style favorites, proudly announces the continuation of its partnership with the American Red Cross on the charitable program, Cakes for a Cause. Coinciding with Valentine’s Day, Portillo’s will offer a Heart-Shaped Chocolate Cake ($15.99), a limited-time menu item with a fun holiday spin on the brand’s iconic Famous Chocolate Cake.

“Portillo’s is proud to be a long-time supporter of the American Red Cross and its charitable giving efforts,” says Portillo’s CEO, Michael Osanloo. “As Valentine’s Day approaches, we couldn’t think of a better way to bring back this sweet tradition and celebrate the holiday.”

A portion of proceeds from the sale of Heart-Shaped Chocolate Cakes, up to $25,000, will be donated to the relief organization. The single-layer cakes will be available in restaurants from February 8-17. Guests are encouraged to pre-order now at portillos.com or by calling 866-YUM-BEEF

“Serving and supporting American Armed Forces and their families has been an integral part of the Red Cross mission from the beginning,” says Celena Roldán, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois. “Today, we remain committed to members of the military and their families with round-the-clock support through our Service to the Armed Forces programming, from their enlistment to the time they separate from their service and beyond. We are grateful to Portillo’s for this partnership that allows us to further our work.”
