BARBARA BRABEC Marcella’s Secret Dreams and Stories: A Mother’s Legacy NAPERVILLE–In the last four years of her mother’s life, Naperville resident, Barbara Brabec learned a secret her mother had kept from the family all her life: at sixteen, she dreamed of being a writer and authoring her own book. Posthumously co-authored by Barbara’s mother through recorded conversations and writings from decades ago, Marcella’s Secret Dreams and Stories: A Mother’s Legacy became Barbara’s chance to fulfill her mother’s dreams. Weaving together the memoirs of both mother and daughter, the true-life story of three generations of a Midwestern farming family going back to the 1880’s came to life.
Barbara has been a self-employed writer and publisher for thirty-seven years. This is her twelfth book and second memoir. In the past few years, she has hosted several workshops to help individuals find their own life story and put it down on paper. “I think it is important for one to write about their life for their children and grandchildren,” says Barbara. “They need to document their family’s history before it is lost.”
Marcella’s Secret Dreams and Stories: A Mother’s Legacy is independently published and can be purchased through Amazon and through local bookstores.
