SELLING DEAD PEOPLE'S THINGS
Chicago resident, Duane Scott Cerny, has been in the antiques business for over thirty years and he has stories to tell! As co-owner of the media acclaimed Broadway Antique Market located in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood, he is truly qualified to take readers on some very unusual vintage adventures in his first book, Selling Dead People’s Things. The book is a hybrid memoir, alternating between Duane’s personal story in becoming a successful antiques dealer, interspersed with entertaining tales of the many houses, hoarder homes and estates he has processed and their obsessive owners – alive or passed.
Duane has always enjoyed writing. He even has an alternate life as a songwriter/lyricist and is signed to multiple music labels. This book was an opportunity to put all his illuminating, scary, sad or frightfully funny resale tales together. “From penthouse to bungalow, from musty attic to cobweb-filled basement, you meet a myriad of characters and their collections and hear many never-before-told Chicago tales,” says Duane. “It is very much a love letter to Chicago.
