Amanda ReCupido and Matt Lynch ANTHONY RIZZO IS A GOOD ITALIAN BOY Downers Grove residents, Amanda ReCupido and Matt Lynch are die-hard Chicago Cubs fans. While the husband and wife team were watching the 2016 playoffs, Amanda kept live-tweeting about how Anthony Rizzo was a good Italian boy, and how she wanted to feed him pasta for a job well done. Those tweets got some attention, but they thought nothing of it. “As months went by, we saw how much good work Rizzo was doing in the community, giving to Lurie Children’s Hospital and others through his foundation,” explains Amanda. “We realized he truly was a “good Italian boy” and thought his story would be a good one for children to hear and follow.”
The couple found a publishing company, Mascot Books, from a simple online search. They saw that the company published sports books for children, and even had a few Cubs titles under their belt. Mascot Books got back to them right away and they started working with an illustrator to create their picture book.
Amanda and Matt wrote this book sitting on opposite couches in their living room and working from the same Google doc. It is available online at www.mascotbooks.com , Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Books-A-Million. -Mindy Kyle
