GIVE BACK WHILE MEETING YOUR FITNESS GOALS

This Spring there are many fun runs, 5Ks and half marathons for you to participate in that are happening throughout the western suburbs – almost all of the runs listed here are tied in with a charity of some sort, so give back and get fit all while enjoying the outdoors this spring.

The Foodie 5K Race Series In Support of Northern Illinois Food Bank

THREE RACE DATES TO CHOOSE FROM

The Foodie 5K race series benefiting the Northern Illinois Food Bank features post-race festivals with entertainment, gourmet food trucks and kids’ activities, plus t-shirts for participants.

• Saturday, April 7 – Foodie 5K DuPage County – Cantigny Park/Wheaton

• Saturday, May 12 – Foodie 5K Lake County – Independence Grove/Libertyville

• Saturday, September 15 – Foodie 5K Will County – Lewis University/Romeoville

Registration per race is $35 for adults and $15 for children 6-12.

Fun Run in Color 2018 In Downtown Wheaton

APRIL 14 IN WHEATON

Fun Run in Color 2018 is a color filled run walk for all ages and abilities. This untimed run features a wave start, four color stations, and an after party with a final color toss. Color is 100% biodegradable and non-toxic. A portion of the proceeds from this run benefit the Play for All Playground & Garden Foundation. www.wheatonparkdistrict.com/racewheaton/

Roadrunner Ramble APRIL 15 IN GLEN ELLYN

Join us on at the Roadrunner Ramble, a charity fundraiser held at Hidden Lake Forest Preserve in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Proceeds from this event directly support Project Playground - Arbor View Elementary School PTC’s efforts to build a new, accessible playground. 3rd Annual Naperville Women's Half Marathon & 5k APRIL 22 IN NAPERVILLE

The 3rd Annual Naperville Women's Half Marathon & 5k from North Central College is open to all Runners and Walkers. The event course will take athletes through downtown and some of the finest neighborhoods of Naperville. The DuPage Human Race APRIL 28 IN DOWNERS GROVE

The DuPage Human Race® is a 5K Run/Fitness Walk fundraiser event, celebrating and raisng awareness for 70+ DuPage charity organizations. The race takes place on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Miles for Smiles 5K Run APRIL 29 IN OSWEGO

This 5K run, 1 Mile and Kid’s Fun Run was created to celebrate the anniversary month of Celebrate Differences, Ryan’s birthday month and to promote the acceptance and inclusion of people who are differently abled. This scenic USATF-IL certified course takes you through the heart of downtown Oswego. Water will be available at the 1 and 2 mile markers. Start line is at the south edge of Franklin Street. Walkers, baby joggers and strollers must start behind the runners. Pets, bicycles, skates of any kind, scooters, skateboards or other wheeled vehicles (except wheel chairs) are prohibited. Swedish Day 5K Lopp JUNE 23 IN GENEVA

Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Geneva Running Outfitters are pleased to announce the return of a 5K run to Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine. The Swedish Day 5K Lopp will commence on June 23 at 7:30 am from Gunnar Forest Preserve in Geneva (behind the Kane County Government Center) at 719 S. Batavia Avenue in Geneva. Located along the scenic Fox River in Geneva, the Swedish Days 5K Lopp promises an unbelievable race experience. We encourage you to tie-in with the Scandinavian theme with your attire. Unique Swedish Days awards to top 3 Male and Female Overall and medals in specific age groups. The $35 registration fee includes a t-shirt and pancake breakfast. In order to guarantee a shirt at packet pickup - you must register by June 13. Race day registration is $40. In addition there will be a Kids’ Dash for ages 1-8 beginning at 7:15 am. www.genevachamber.com/swedish_days.php.

Great Western Freedom 4 ~ Run, Walk, & Kids Dash

JULY 4 AT LEROY OAKES FOREST PRESERVE

Compete on the USATF certified 4 mile race course, join the 2 mile scenic walk, or cheer on your children in the Kids Dash, it’s bound to be an energizing morning and a great way to start your holiday. Bring the whole family out to enjoy the races, vendors, and Colonial Ice Cream. Registration is open for runners and walkers at www.signmeup.com through July 1st. Day of registration is accepted for an extra fee. The Kids Dash for children 12 and under is $5 per child on event day. All proceeds benefit Lazarus House.
