NAPERVILLE – Anderson’s Bookshops have been on board with Jeff Kinney’s thoroughly entertaining children’s books since the start. When the gawky, middle school weakling Greg Heffley debuted in the first of a book series in 2007, Heffley was embraced by kids everywhere. That first volume, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, was quickly followed by many more. This fall, Kinney has boosted that series further with his 12th Wimpy Kid title, The Getaway.
Jeff Kinney will be presenting his new book at a special event starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10. Anderson’s Bookshop will be presenting this event at Still Middle School, 787 Meadowridge Dr., in Aurora. Tickets are required and exclusively available at WimpyKidAndersons.brownpapertickets.com. These event tickets include an admission entry time. Entry times extend until 7:00 p.m.
Once admitted, guests will be free to participate in several kid-friendly activity stations. Then they will proceed to the booksigning line to meet the author.
About the Book
The Getaway is book #12 in the incredibly popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. And in this adventure, Greg Heffley and his family are getting out of town. With the cold weather and the stress of the approaching holiday season, the Heffleys decide to escape to a tropical island resort for some much-needed rest and relaxation. A few days in paradise should do wonders for Greg and his frazzled family. But the Heffleys soon discover that paradise isn't everything it's cracked up to be. Sun poisoning, stomach troubles, and venomous critters all threaten to ruin the family's vacation. Can their trip be saved, or will this island getaway end in disaster?
