MOM'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK | Wilmot Mountain, Wilmot, WI

December 2016 – BEGINNERS, JUMPER, AND ZIGZAGGERS

Wilmot Mountain has been around since the 1930s, but is as Epic as ever as they are now a part of the Vail Resorts family with a $13 million dollar renovation project making unbelievable changes to their base lodge, snowmaking infrastructure, lifts and terrain park; as well as, adding a dedicated children’s learning center and beginner area.

Wilmot was the first to master the art of snowmaking in the Midwest, so regardless if our winter is bringing us flurries or inches, I love the flexibility to go skiing and snowboarding through most of the colder months.

I was first drawn to the resort because it was only 1.5 hours away from my south Naperville home and featured a state of the art covered magic carpet on their tubing hill. It was awesome riding up in style and comfort to thoroughly enjoy the freedom of the wind blowing through our hair at speeds of nearly 40 mph! The girls and their friends loved documenting their tubing journey on SnapChat which recorded their exact speed (and screams) as their careened down the mountain.

The 23 unique runs at Wilmot Mountain offer varied terrain for all skiers and snowboarders; from novices to experts, including a mogul field plus two terrain parks with progressive jumps, rails, and jib features.

We loved the multiple ski lifts which allowed for short wait lines and a relaxing way to get to the top; and as usual, after watching the 3 year olds make it look easy, I confidently went with the girls from the easiest runs to the most difficult Black Diamond runs. As history has proven time and again – my skis went flying, I went tumbling, and everyone got a great laugh! -Kristen Kucharski
