A Visionary Restaurateur with a Heart for Community, Brian Goewey
WHEATON–Brian Goewey, a Chicago-area restaurateur, embodies passion, resilience, and a deep commitment to community. His culinary journey began with a dream in 2012 to create a space where people could gather over farm-to-table dishes and authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizzas. That dream came to life in Wheaton, Illinois, and has since blossomed into the GIA MIA family of six locations, alongside additional concepts including Livia in Downtown Geneva, moto imōto located in St. Charles and their newest concept in Geneva and Elmhurst, Ella’s Italian Pub.
Beyond food, Goewey’s impact on the community runs deep. After losing a close friend, he partnered with the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, supporting those navigating cancer with vital resources. His BG Hospitality Group is also a proud supporter of CASA Kane County, Cal’s Angels, Hands of Hope, and Tuskegee Next, contributing to causes like child advocacy and hunger relief. Whether through partnerships, school fundraisers, or sports team sponsorships, Goewey’s mission is clear—uplift and give back.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unexpected challenges, but through teamwork and community support, he emerged stronger. Looking ahead, Goewey envisions growth fueled by his core values of community, innovation, and quality.
His advice to others who are starting out is simple yet profound—build connections, nurture your team, and lead with passion. With every restaurant opened, Goewey continues to turn his vision into a thriving reality.
