Glen Ellyn Enthusiast is a Friend to All Who Loves Giving Back to the Community
GLEN ELLYN–At 24 years old, Miles is enthusiastic, curious, and social which drives him to be involved in many things. Miles remembers everyone’s birthday and possesses a knack for recognizing a wide variety of songs in just a few notes. He finds joy in music, volunteering, and work and has never let his formal diagnosis of Down syndrome define or limit his goals.
Miles graduated from Glenbard West High School in 2018 and completed his high school transition program in 2022. He still takes Continuing Education classes at College of DuPage while working as a busser at Blackberry Market.
Additionally, this past summer, Miles was selected in a pilot program as a paid staff member at Camp Chi, where he’s attended for 14 years. Otherwise, his community involvement and activity is completely centered around Glen Ellyn via membership in the Lions Club, the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn, ushering at the McAninch Arts Center, participating in the Special Olympics as a track athlete, as well as WDSRA Rec and Roll, and volunteer coaches the Glenbard West High School Boys Track & Field team.
Future goals include traveling to NYC by himself to visit his brother and sister-in-law, as well as aspiring to find supported living in or near Glen Ellyn.
