GIVING BACK THROUGH PRAYER, COMBINING HER STRONG WORK ETHIC WITH A KIND HEART
NAPERVILLE–Naperville resident and member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Naperville, Nicole Waite has volunteered as a choir teacher, children’s summer camp instructor, and more. She married her high school sweetheart, started her career as a teacher, and then raised her three children. During that time, she opened a piano studio, a photography studio, worked as a Learning Behavior Specialist Assistant, and is currently dedicating her time to the non-profit organization, Haiti Scholars.
Combining a strong work ethic with a kind heart, Nicole passionately led a team to Centre D'Etudes Lumiere School in Mariani, Haiti, in 2018, and they continue to empower families through educational assistance.
“At Haiti Scholars, we aim to serve the whole child with scholarships, school supplies, tutoring, physicals, deworming and vitamin A programs, food kits, and clean water systems,” Nicole says. “We are proud of our scholarship program, which has grown from 20 students in 2018 to 60 students in 2022.”
Nicole prays a lot. She knows that this mission has been placed in her heart for a reason even though at times it is hard, challenging, and heartbreaking, yet miracles keep happening.
“Our lives are richer because of our beautiful friends in Haiti,” she says. “They have taught us the gifts of perseverance, strength, and faith.”
