Glancer Magazine Working to Help Support Local Charities
April 28, 2009 – Local community living magazine (monthly distribution 50,000), Glancer Magazine, publisher of The Naperville Glancer and The Wheaton/Glen Ellyn Glancer participates in several community events throughout the year to help support local charities.
Last week, Lindy Kleivo, the publication’s founding publisher was one of four celebrity bartenders who served drinks at Zaidi’s Restaurant, 1975 Springbrook Square Dr., to help raise money for Little Friend Inc., a private, non-profit organization that works to serve children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities.
“Glancer Magazine is honored to be involved in many of the local area charitable efforts that exist today. It is important that all media vehicles, both small and large, utilize their voice to promote causes that need as much help as possible, both financially and at the volunteer level. I am proud to be the founding publisher of one of these media vehicles,” said Kleivo.
On May 12th, 2009, Kleivo will once again show off her bartending skills at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, 244 S. Main St., for another celebrity bartender night. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Naperville Cultural Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing global cultures together to create meaning and a positive impact in the community.
“Since our inception in 2001, Glancer Magazine has been a devoted media resource for charitable organizations through both our substantial editorial coverage and our Community NFP Partnership program. We will continue to do so throughout the life of Glancer Magazine. As an individual who suffered from a rare, sudden illness (Guillian Barre-Syndrome), my family relied heavily on the information available to them through a local charitable organization supporting this cause. This organization was in place to educate the public on this rare disease and how to cope when it suddenly strikes. I am thankful such organizations exist for families locally, and at the national level. Many residents need help and these organizations provide the help that is needed,” Kleivo added.
In addition to the events listed above, Glancer Magazine is a proud 2009 participant in events to support, the Naperville Jaycees, the Naperville Area Humane Society, Fashion Week Naperville to benefit several area non profits, Wheaton Rotary Club, Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Walk, This Runs for Jack, Operation Support Our Troops and countless other area fundraisers.
