NAHS is sponsoring this Virtual Adopt-a-thon to help raise money for their cats, dogs and humane education programs. The loving humans participating, including Glancer Magazine Founding Publisher Lindy Kleivo, are in need of a good home, so "adopt" as many of them as you like. 100% of all virtual adoption fees will benefit NAHS. NAHS receives donations to support the shelter and from people from all over the country who give as a means of supporting not only NAHS, but the efforts of our dedicated volunteers and the supporters below. KidsMatter Student Job Fair

All high school and college students in the community are invited to attend the annual KidsMatter Student Job Fair. Come prepared to meet potential employers, fill out job applications, speak with representatives from OSHA, members of the business community, and enjoy a workshop or two. Supported by the NapervilleArea Chamber of Commerce, this fair features Help Stations & Workshops to prepare youth for job interviews and employment experiences. Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society's 26th Annual Housewalk

Make this great annual event part of your Mother's Day Weekend traditions. Participnts will get to view goregous, memorable homes all throughout the community of Glen Ellyn. The event will take place from 10am-2pm and 5-9pm. Presale tickets will be available beginning late March from any Infant Welfare member or at Ali Kat, Fuschia, and Knickers of Glen Ellyn. Cost is $30 prior to May 7, $35 day of event. All proceeds from the Housewalk are donated to benefit children in need in our community and the agencies that serve them. Little Friends, Inc. hosted its 34th Annual Bids for Kids Benefit Auction on Saturday, March 6, at the Hilton Lisle-Naperville, 3003 Corporate West Drive. This year’s auction theme celebrated the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown. Guests strolled along the red carpet and toasted the Academy Awards while gazing into the stars above the Hollywood hills, all while raising funds for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities served by Little Friends, Inc. Optimal Level is Celebrating 10 Years!

Residents gathered to help celebrate Optimal Level's 10th Anniversary at this Custom MYSTERY EVENT where guests were given the opportunity to network with some of the finest business people in the area! Much like a live, interactive version of the board game "Clue," teams of Detectives traveled to each location in 5th Avenue to make assumptions to the actual Suspects about who committed the crime, from which location it occurred, and what his/her motive was. Residents gathered for a cause and joined the Naperville Jaycees for the Mardi Gras Charity Ball, on February 6 at Northern Illinois University’s Naperville campus, located at 1120 E. Diehl Road. The event included dinner, drinks, live entertainment and live and silent auctions. Proceeds from the silent auction benefitted Almost Home Kids, a not-for-profit organization with the mission of enhancing the lives of children facing serious and ongoing medical challenges. Volley For The Cure

Glancer Magazine auctiones off a “YOU’VE BEEN GLANCED Super Star Package” at Volley for a Cure, a charitable sporting event held on October 6, 2009 at Naperville Central High School in support of the fight against breast cancer. The NCHS girls volleyball team partnered with Wheaton Warrenville South to raise money for the cause. Tickets to the game were $10 and breast cancer survivors are free. There was a silent auction available and other fun activities. The “YOU’VE BEEN GLANCED Super Star Package” included a full feature story in the December 2009 yearbook issue written by a talented member of TEAM Glancer, complete with a photo shoot, 50 souvenir copies, a black magic marker for autograph signing and a framed keepsake. This fun & exciting silent auction item will make someone’s day in a variety of ways. The highest bidder had the option to pay it forward and donate it to a charitable organization, use it to highlight a business that is really awesome, or even put a shout out to someone they love as a surprise for an anniversary, birthday, or even wedding proposal. Whatever the reason, more than 108,000 readers can’t wait to read about it in Naperville and Wheaton/Glen Ellyn this December. 100% of the event proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

On Saturday, September 26th, residents enjoyed a day at the Morton Arboretum as staff entertained the mind and exercised the legs with a theater-hike and wine tasting, all in one. Participants reveled in a deliriously affectionate satire about the life and legacy of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the playful Broadway comedy, Jackie: An American Life, followed by a wine tasting where guests could meet & mingle with other guests. The Lupus Foundation of America, Illinois Chapter (LFAI) hosted its fourth annual lupus awareness walk in the western suburbs this September. The Walk for Lupus Now was held on Saturday, September 26, along the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville. Designed to raise awareness about lupus, a chronic and life-threatening autoimmune disease, funds raised from this event supported research initiatives, education and advocacy efforts and patient services for individuals with lupus across the state of Illinois. Over the past nine years, Walk for Lupus Now events in Illinois have raised more than $1 million to support individuals affected by this life-altering disease. The third annual Glen Ellyn Jazz Festival was held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 3 to 10 p.m. Jazz Fest Glen Ellyn was created to present a unique and entertaining musical event for its participants. This was the ultimate outdoor jazz experience, and featured top-class Chicago jazz musicians, the Hursthouse "Jazz Garden", and a gourmet menu with beer and wine. Zaidi’s Celebrity Bartender Night Benefitting Little Friends Inc.

On Wednesday, April 22nd residents gathered at Zaidi’s Restaurant for an evening to remember. The theme of the night was celebrity bartenders – Naperville celebrities that is! Glancer Magazine founder/publisher Lindy Klevio and Naperville Park District Executive Director Ray McGury along with Minuteman Press Owner Ray Kinney and Naperville Sun News Editor Cynthia Goldberg, were the bartenders for the evening serving up martinis and cocktails to help benefit Little Friends Inc. All tips generated during the Celebrity Bartender event, as well as 20 percent of Z Bar food sales, went towards the programs of Little Friends, Inc.

Bids For Kids Auction Raised Nearly $90,000

An enthusiastic crowd of more than 350 area residents helped Little Friends, Inc. raise nearly $90,000 at its annual Bids for Kids Benefit Auction on Saturday, March 7, at the Hilton Lisle-Naperville. Proceeds from the annual event benefit children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities served by the Naperville-based agency. This year’s event celebrated the sights and sounds of one of the finest cities in the world – Chicago. Guests admired the city’s picturesque skyline and toasted Chicago’s historic landmarks while enjoying a unique and exciting “My Kind of Town” atmosphere. Festivities included cocktails, dinner, exciting live and silent auctions, raffles and entertainment. This year’s live auction netted nearly $60,000 as event-goers bid on original client artwork, trips to Puerto Rico and Disney World and authentic sports memorabilia. Glancer Magazine's Founding Publisher Lindy Kleivo welcomed "the heroes behind the heroes" during a tour of the Millenium Carillon followed by dinner at Meson Sabika with Mayor George A. Pradel. The event, a package offered by Mayor Pradel during a live auction at a benefit dinner for the Naperville Humane Society was purchased by Lindy and her husband John. Glancer Magazine's winning bid turned into an opportunity to recognize a few individuals who are passionate about the military. Guests included Deb Rickert, founder of Operation Support Our Troops and her husband Bill; Donna Morsovillo, volunteer coordinator of homecomings for local marines and soliders and her husband Jim; and proud military parents Eileen Kaefer and Dan Greenwood whose son is currently serving in Iraq. Everyone felt glamorous when the first annual Fashion Week Naperville kicked off on Monday, October 20th, 2008 at Raffi’s on Fifth. At the cocktail reception, guests were treated to a display of fashion history, including vintage gowns donated by Marilyn Piazza of Naperville. While enjoying appetizers and sounds of the Naperville Chorus Chamber Singers, fashion enthusiasts watched models “strike a pose” during an Impressioni fashion show. The week was presented by Tow K Productions and Porter Presentations, with proceeds being distributed to NCO Youth and Family Services, Naperville Cultural Center and Kidz Cabaret. The “Fling” was held over Labor Day weekend Downtown Naperville where residents enjoyed a huge carnival, entertainment stages featuring national artists, two beer gardens with entertainment including Gavin DeGraw and the Doobie Brothers, dozens of food vendors, and many special events (i.e. the Labor Day Parade, Big Wheel races, the Four-Legged follies dog show).
