Local Caterer Helps Celebrate The Season
“Right after Thanksgiving we begin to get pleasantly busy,” says Tim Belgio of Belgio’s Catering.  The Naperville native has been in business with his brother Tom since 2000.  “The holiday parties continue into January.  Some people prefer to wait until after the holidays to get together because there is so much going on in December.”  During December weekends, Tim and his staff of 16 full-time employees and 32 seasonal employees often do nine events a day. The firm averages about 50 events during the month of December.  “Our customers provide the location and we provide the needed staff, themed items, rentals, food and beverage,” notes Tim.

“Appetizers are popular for holiday parties because the guests can come and go,” says Tim.  “In a corporate setting, we usually provide a buffet meal.  Space is often an issue if the party is held in an office.  We can provide highboy tables so people can stand and eat.  We also have staff to clear things away and keep the space neat.” Popular appetizer items are Swedish meatballs, fruit kabobs and bruschetta.  The requests for holiday buffet items usually are traditional foods like honey baked ham, turkey and prime rib.  One popular item which the company offers is a build-your-own pasta station with a variety of sauces, vegetables, and meats.  A chef tosses and prepares a pasta dish using items selected by each guest. 

Tim also is able to meet the diverse needs of customers.   “We take requests from the clients for special dietary restrictions and ethnic dishes,” he says.  Tim will often cook a sample meal for clients to be sure he is providing the desired flavors.

One specialty item provided by Belgio’s are ice carvings which can be created in any shape including a company logo.  He also offers an ice design with space for serving shrimp.   A chocolate fountain where guests dip cakes and fruit into warm, flowing chocolate is another popular party option.  From dishes to desserts, Tim says “we can do it all.”
