MEXICAN
Chicks'n Salsa Mexican Grill
874 Roosevelt Rd.
Glen Ellyn - (630)790-1100

Chicks'n Salsa has been in Glen Ellyn since 2005. If it is not already in your repertoire of frequently visited restaurants, it should be! Chicks'n Salsa is located in the Baker Hill shopping center. Its bright interior has an energetic atmosphere that always smells delicious. You may eat there or take your meal to go. Either option allows access to the salsa bar which is loaded with freshly made salsas with varying degrees of spiciness.

This visit, we had the chicken and cheese quesadilla. The portion is generous. The chicken was tender, and the cheese was plentiful enough to make each bite feel gooey without toning down the zesty taste of the poultry. The chicken burrito contains chicken, beans, rice and lettuce. A person feels satisfied and not stuffed if the whole burrito is finished. Ground beef tacos on flour tortillas disappeared quickly. The meat has a clean feel and taste, due to the beef not being muffled by grease. The fish tacos are amazing. The crisp fish (baja style) with a light chipotle sauce and the grilled tilapia with diced cucumbers each deliver a very pleasant crunch against soft and savory. Do try them! Chicks'n Salsa also serves breakfast.

AMERICAN
Seven Dwarfs Family Restaurant
917 E. Roosevelt Rd.
Wheaton - (630) 653-7888

Seven Dwarfs restaurant is a pleasant choice for a casual meal with your family. It is not uncommon to find very large groups sharing a meal together in the spacious dining room. It is decorated, of course, with many depictions of the dwarfs, which the youngest patrons seem to appreciate.

The voluminous menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many entrees come with soup or a salad. Over the years, we consistently find the soups to be very good. Our table tried the Albanian wrap, which is comparable to a gyro without cucumber sauce. The francheezy is a hot dog wrapped in cheese and bacon. This tasty monstrosity is served with fries. The house skillet layers eggs on top of a toothsome combination of hash browns, peppers, onions and cheddar cheese. The menu also includes several pastas, fish, burgers and barbecue. The flavor combinations may not be exotic, but all have a reliably good, home cooked taste. If you have room for dessert, try one of the several ice cream treats, shakes or malts.

Despite this establishment's small namesake, the portions are large enough that most people to leave with leftovers. Service is quick, friendly and attentive. Reasonable prices emphasize the family friendliness of this restaurant.
